A large two-tier BBQ is supplied for each tent. BBQ food packs and charcoal are available by special order.

Gravel Pit Farm is a quiet, secluded world of huge green spaces, BBQ’s and campfires, an abundance of wildlife and late-night star gazing. Our two 5-star safari tents are fully equipped with kitchens, en suite bathrooms and each sleep six adults comfortably. A world away from everyday life, Gravel Pit Farm is at the top-end of the glamping experience.

Each safari tent is a large and spacious 66 square metres (over 700 sq ft). Proper, comfortable king size and large single beds with warm duvets and crisp white sheets, mean you get a dreamy night’s sleep.

The well-appointed bathrooms within each tent include large shower enclosures, a proper basin and flushing WC, with extra loos housed in a separate purpose built oak cabin.

The fabulous wood-burning stoves are the focal point of the cosy living areas, which quickly warm the tents on cooler days and nights.

The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, a full-size gas hob, sink and fridge. Outside is a fantastic huge 30-inch two-tier charcoal BBQ.

The evening sunset can be enjoyed on the covered veranda with a chilled glass of Prosecco or two. At the far end of the paddock is our campfire for long evenings of storytelling or setting the world to rights, or simply gazing into the flickering flames while toasting marshmallows.

To top it all off, a clear night gives you a canopy of stars to explore the cosmos at the end of the day.

Whether you are looking for a relaxing, quiet time, at one with nature, away from it all, or you want a full-on break with lots of outdoor experiences such as sailing, cycling, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, walking, exploring and campfires, but with a comfortable bed and a warm shower at the end of it all, we can offer either or maybe a mixture of the two!

There are numerous footpath routes to be explored. Cycling is very popular around Marden as much of the Weald of Kent is flat(ish) - power assisted bikes can be hired nearby.

The following are 5 - 20 minutes away:

Bedgebury National Pinetum - walking, cycling, mountain biking, Go Ape, live concert programme and many other events

Castles: Leeds Castle, Scotney Castle and Sissinghurst Castle

Museum of Kent Life.

Shooting: West Kent Shooting School offers clay pigeon shooting

Wine: Hush Heath Winery - tours and tasting - (3 miles - under an hour’s walk)

Herbert Hall Vineyards - private tour/tasting (1 mile - 15 mins walk)

Family Fun: The Hop Farm Village, Paddock Wood (7 mile - 20 minute drive)

Fishing: Monks Lakes, Claygate Lake and Mouse Hole lakes - all offer course fishing

Flowers: Blooming Green Flowers Organic Flower Garden - floristry events

Beaches: Camber Sand, Rye, Greatstone, Winchelsea, Hastings (approx. 45 - 60 mins away) and Whitstable on the North Kent coast is just over an hour away

Gin: Anno Gin distillery - tasting and tours (3/4 mile - 10 minute walk)

The historic towns of Royal Tunbridge Wells and Cranbrook are 20 mins away and the ancient city of Canterbury is an hour away.

Marden mainline station to London is one mile from the site (50 minutes to Charing Cross twice an hour).

The Channel Tunnel is 3/4 hour away making day trips to the northern French coast as easy as visiting London. (If you time it right you can leave Marden and be in France in well under 2 hours).

We are happy to help organise experiences: for example: bootcamps/yoga/ flower arranging/crafting/reiki/massage/ (there is a luxury mini spa in the village), etc.

We can also help arrange small parties for weddings, wedding anniversaries and other celebrations.
