Gravel Pit Farm is a quiet, secluded world of huge green spaces, BBQ’s and campfires, an abundance of wildlife and late-night star gazing. Our two 5-star safari tents are fully equipped with kitchens, en suite bathrooms and each sleep six adults comfortably. A world away from everyday life, Gravel Pit Farm is at the top-end of the glamping experience.
Each safari tent is a large and spacious 66 square metres (over 700 sq ft). Proper, comfortable king size and large single beds with warm duvets and crisp white sheets, mean you get a dreamy night’s sleep.
The well-appointed bathrooms within each tent include large shower enclosures, a proper basin and flushing WC, with extra loos housed in a separate purpose built oak cabin.
The fabulous wood-burning stoves are the focal point of the cosy living areas, which quickly warm the tents on cooler days and nights (a generous starter basket of wood and kindling is supplied and more can be purchased).
The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, a full-size gas hob, sink and fridge. Outside is a fantastic huge 30-inch two-tier charcoal BBQ.
The evening sunset can be enjoyed on the covered veranda with a chilled glass of Prosecco or two. At the far end of the paddock is our campfire for long evenings of storytelling or setting the world to rights, or simply gazing into the flickering flames while toasting marshmallows.
To top it all off, a clear night gives you a canopy of stars to explore the cosmos at the end of the day.

how many people can you host?
Groups of up to 12 people are welcome (6 people per tent).
Each tent can be booked separately for up to 6 people.
is the site child-friendly?
Gravel Pit Farm Glamping welcomes groups or families. Please be aware young children need to be supervised as there is unmodified, exciting nature all around. For instance, unfenced ponds with ducklings and moorhens in summer, uneven ground with rabbit holes, ditches and paths to be explored.
can I pitch other tents on the site?
We don’t allow other tents or caravans - unless the whole site is booked by one group and special arrangements are made.
We supply a welcome pack with a few essentials such as coffee, tea, sugar, milk, butter, bread, cereal, jam, biscuits, and marshmallows with sticks for toasting them on the campfire. (BBQ packs and more are available by special order).
Hot & Cold water, electricity (from renewable sources) and Wi-Fi are all included.
The tents are self-catering, but delivery of meals from Life Fork and Spoon (www.lifeforkandspoon.com) can be arranged. Good pub grub is available in the village pubs - The Unicorn and The Westend Tavern.
Our chickens generously lay eggs, which are available for you to collect from nesting boxes and buy for your breakfast.
There are four takeaways in the village - Marden boasts two of the best curry houses in Kent… The Taj of Kent and The Marden Tandoori… plus Fish U Knight kebabs and fish & chips, and a Chinese.
Other eateries just outside the village include: The Stilebridge Inn, The Mulbury Tree, The Goudhurst Inn, The Curious Eatery, The Lord Raglan, The Green Cross Inn, The Boat House Bistro, The Bull at Linton, The Great House, The Poet at Matfield, The Bell & Jorrocks.
There are three mini supermarkets in the village. Marden Farmshop has interesting locally grown farm produce, Taywell Farmshop has a wide selection of local produce and game, including pre-ordered boxes for BBQ’s, etc.
Larger supermarkets are 20 minutes drive away.
